The 3 Conditions of Samaa

Samaa is a way of achieving spiritual elevation. It is definitely not just for fun. Regarding the Time, Place, and Company, Imam Ghazali has imposed three specific restrictions on Samaa:

  • Time: It must not be at prayer time, during a meal, or when the performers and auditors are mentally disturbed.
  • Place: Samaa should not be arranged in streets, roads, dirty places, or in the house of a worldly defiled person.
  • Company: The non-muslims, worldly people, false believers, and gossipers are not allowed to sit in Samaa.
